The Australian Council of Social Service will appear before a Senate Inquiry at 9am today to argue against plans to extend the waiting period for income support for young people and some parents.

Besides the one-month payment wait for under 25s, ACOSS is particularly concerned about the potential impacts of the new waiting period for applicants for Parenting Payment (Single) experiencing or at risk of domestic violence and in need of immediate financial assistance.
