Community Sector Climate Change Day of Action 7 October – Social Media Toolkit

Messaging Guide

Join us on 7 October for a social media day of action, where we are encouraging community sector organisations and staff to post about why fair and fast climate action this decade matters to them. By raising our voices together, we can persuade the Federal government to set more ambitious targets in the lead-up to the UN Climate Summit in November and take fair and inclusive action on climate change.

Use the hashtag #FairFastClimateAction and tag @ACOSS

We have provided some social tiles for you to use across Twitter and Facebook to increase engagement and visibility, but please also feel free to use your own.

Rather than provide you with draft messages we urge you to either use the statements you prepared when you signed the declaration or create your own.

You might include:

  • The impacts climate change is having on communities you work with
  • The impacts climate change is having on your organisation’s ability to support the communities you work with
  • The benefits of action on climate change, such as cheaper and more reliable energy, health and energy efficient homes and sustainable employment in the new energy economy

 Suggestions for phrasing:

  • [My organisation] calls for #FairFastClimateAction this decade because….
  • I support #FairFastClimateAction this decade because…….
  • 2050 is too late. [My organisation] calls for #FairFastClimateAction this decade because….
  • Without #FairFastClimateAction this decade we will continue experiencing….
