The Government has announced that people on JobSeeker will lose $300 a fortnight, from the end of September.
A lower supplement of $250 a fortnight, replacing the $550 a fortnight Coronavirus Supplement, will start from the end of September, till the end of December.
This decision, which flies in the face of broad public support for permanently raising the rate of JobSeeker, will have a devastating impact on the lives of millions of people.
We will be holding a meeting on Thursday afternoon, after the announcement, to discuss the latest developments, what it means for the Raise the Rate for Good campaign, and what we need to do next.
People, particularly those currently on JobSeeker and other payments, will have opportunities to share their views on the Government's announcement, and where we go from here as we continue to campaign for a permanent, adequate raise to JobSeeker and other Allowances.
