UnitingCare Australia is urging the Senate to scrap the Cashless Debit Card and restore choice and control to communities in the four trial sites. Appearing before the recent Senate Inquiry, UnitingCare Australia National Director, Ms Claerwen Little, expressed concern that while compulsory income management should be abolished, it is vital that communities are offered adequate wrap-around services to support the transition. The Uluru Statement has released its new ad which is part of its grassroots referendum education campaign, History is Calling.

The ad tells the story about how First Peoples achieved a Voice to Parliament with the help of Australians everywhere. It's hopeful of what the future could look like, but makes it clear there is a long way to go.

The ad, and broader History is Calling campaign, is about raising awareness in the lead up to the referendum and encourages Australians to show their support for the Uluru Statement. 

Carers are people who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental health condition, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged – anyone at any time can become a carer.

National Carers Week is an opportunity to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.

One year on from launching Passing The Message Stick, Australian Progress are launching the next phase of the project to develop persuasive messages that shift public narratives and build support for First Nations justice. 

The First Nations Law and Justice Messaging Fellowship is designed by and for First Nations people, to develop new and effective strength-based communications approaches for law reform and justice campaigns.

Applications are now open for 20 First Nations advocates working on law and justice campaigns - including family members whose loved ones have died in custody, grassroots activists, organisers and journalists - to join a unique Fellowship program, designed for, and led by, First Nations people.
