Social Safety Net

Everyone should be able to keep a roof over their head, food on the table, and still have enough left over at the end of the month to pay their bills. But right now, the punitively low Jobseeker rate is forcing people to make heart breaking decisions between paying their rent or buying medicine.

If we’re going to build back better, we need to ensure that people struggling without a job have the confidence to begin new careers, retrain and look for paid work. That’s why we’re calling for our political leaders to commit to a permanent and adequate increase to the rate of Jobseeker, Youth Allowance, and other income support payments so it is at least $69 a day.

Can you email your MP and local candidates calling on them to commit to increasing income support at this upcoming election?
