ACOSS Membership Network
ACOSS and our members share a vision of working for a fair, inclusive and sustainable Australia.
For over five decades ACOSS membership has brought together a diverse cross section of the community sector to be a strong voice against poverty and inequality in Australia.
ACOSS membership plays an active and critical role informing ACOSS policy development and strengthening the impact of ACOSS advocacy.
Together, the ACOSS membership has advocated for policy reform that protects basic rights, creates real opportunity, celebrates diversity and empowers people to participate and connect across the community. Importantly, the membership works together to amplify the voice of people experiencing poverty and disadvantage in public policy debates.
As the peak body for community organisations across Australia, ACOSS membership includes organisations working at the national, state, regional, local and grassroots level.
At the heart of our membership is a shared vision for a fair, inclusive, diverse and sustainable Australia. ACOSS membership also shares a commitment to taking action to ensure that the issues affecting low income and disadvantaged Australians are brought to the attention of the general public and key decision makers.
The ACOSS membership is comprised of:
- Eight state and territory Councils of Social Service which represent thousands of front-line community agencies
- National peak organisations of consumers and service providers
- National religious and secular welfare agencies
- Low income consumer groups and unions
National Members are full voting members within the ACOSS governance structure and can vote on constitutional changes and board elections.
Associate Members include organisations working at a sub-national level who support the work of ACOSS. Associate Members are able to access select member services but do not have voting rights in the governance of ACOSS.
ACOSS members have access to a range of member services including opportunities to stay informed, get connected and have their voice heard. Find out more and join ACOSS here.
