ACOSS will be hosting quarterly Income Support Network Meetings via teleconference to collaborate and discuss developments in regard to our work on advocating increases to income support allowances and improving employment assistance fro unemployed people across Australia.
The Indigenous Forces at Work Conference 2012 at the Crown Plaza Alice Springs is designed to:
1. Provide concrete examples and case studies of current experience, activities and challenges in advancing Indigenous learning, employment and well-being;
2. Give you time to bring and share your experience, activities and challenges in advancing Indigenous learning, employment and well-being;
3. Explore Indigenous enterprise, microenterprise and social enterprise through case studies and the work of enterprise developers; and
4. Take time to hear from a range of Indigenous storytellers talking about the impact of Indigenous policy and programs on their journeys through learning, employment and life.
Close the Gap is an Indigenous-led coalition campaign consisting of more than 40 Indigenous and non-Indigenous health, human rights & community organisations. The campaign's goal is to achieve health equality between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians within a generation. National Close the Gap Day is an annual event which enables people and organisations across Australia to demonstrate their support for achieving Indigenous health equality through hosting a National Close the Gap Day event in their home, community, workplace or school.
Preparations are underway for the 2012 NGO Media Forum and ACOSS is proud to announce that the Australian Centre for Independent Journalism at UTS has agreed to partner with us for the exciting event.
ACOSS will be hosting a post-budget community sector luncheon to evaluate the implications of the 2012 budget on the community sector.
The annual ACOSS Policy Forum will be held on Friday the 9th of November from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
