Gender Audit Survey

YWCA Australia and ACOSS Gender Audit of Charities and Community Service organisations

Women are well represented within the workforce of not-for-profit organisations in Australia. The community sector alone employs around 85% women, which is a key factor in the equal pay case for community workers currently before Fair Work Australia. Yet we know very little about the gendered nature of senior management and Board positions within the community and social services sector. Specifically, we do not know whether the high numbers of women in the community sector workforce generally are reflected equally across senior positions.

As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, and as part of our response to the Commonwealth Government’s agenda on women’s workforce participation, the community sector equal pay case, and the opportunities to put a gender focus on training and other funds, the Australian Council of Social Service, YWCA Australia and Women on Boards, have developed a survey to assess the gendered representation within senior roles and Boards across the community sector.

The survey takes around 8 minutes to complete and seeks information about diversity within your workforce, within your senior management roles, and within your Board. We ask you to complete the survey and to circulate among your community sector networks. The deadline for responses is 12 December 2011.
