On 11 July 2011 the Commonwealth Government made its next submission on the ASU's application for an equal remuneration order before Fair Work Australia. This analysis has been prepared by ACOSS for the benefit of our members and to inform a joint COSS submission to FWA in this case.
ACOSS analysis of the Commonwealth's submission to Fair Work Australia
November 2010
In 2009 the Commonwealth Government signed a Heads of Agreement with the Australian Services Union, agreeing to support the Union's application for an Equal Remuneration Order (ERO) for social and community sector and disability workers. The Commonwealth committed to provide evidence and research for the case and to support an agreed statement of facts. On 18 November 2010 the Commonwealth Government filed its submission in the case to Fair Work Australia. This analysis outlines key concerns in relation to the Commonwealth's submission as it relates to the implications for funding of any wage rises in the community sector.
